I Didn't Set Goals For 2024 (Here's What I Did Instead)

Hope you’re having a great new year so far!

Today I’d like to share with you something different.

One technique that helped me achieve my goals and progress faster.

And it starts with the fact that I didn’t set goals for the whole of 2024.

Instead, I set goals for Q1 only.

Let me explain why.

It all goes back to the Parkinson's Law:

"Your work will expand to fill the time allotted for its completion"

If you give yourself a whole year to achieve your goals, it's going to take you a year (or more).

If you shorten the time and set goals for 12 weeks only, you may not achieve them but you'll progress faster.

You have some urgency and instead of thinking about what you need to do and achieve in a year, you only focus on 3 months at a time.

But setting goals alone isn't enough.

You need to have a clear roadmap for your Q1.

Your KPIs, clear action steps, and also...

Who you need to be as a person.

Have all your routines, protocols, and personal life sorted so that nothing can hold you back.

Here are some questions I always ask myself:

- What do I want to achieve?

- How am I going to achieve it?

- What are the daily action steps I need?

- Who do I need to become to achieve my goal?

After each quarter:

- Rest & take some time off

- Reflect

- Review

- Repeat the process all over again

Give it a go and see the incredible progress you’ll be making.

To your success,

Miriam
